Dr. Gene Simmons 

Dr. Simmons grew up in the West Dallas Projects in Dallas, Texas. He attended East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University, where he received his BS degree in 1988. He began his educational career at FWISD in 1992. He attended PVAMU, where he received his Graduate Degree in Education Administration in 2008. Soon after, he began his pursuit of his PhD in Educational Leadership and completed it in 2014.

During his 28 years as an educator, he has held various positions, such as Math Coach, Art Teacher, Math Teacher, Science and Reading Specialist, Test Coordinator, and Data Analyst. He also created a mentoring program called "The Men of Honor Mentoring Program" for young men in 2nd-5th grade, in which he serves several campuses around FWISD.

In his spare time, Dr. Simmons likes spending time with family, friends, reading, DJ-ing, drawing, and watching old movies.

Ms. Johanna Batres

I enjoy making the most of life through drawing, exploring, and trying new experiences. I attended North Harris Community College, Southern New Hampshire University, and the University of Houston. My experience as a permanent substitute and now as a teacher showed me the importance of supporting students, listening to them, and helping them reach their full potential.
