Dr. Barbara F. Dowell - Librarian

 

Dr. Barbara F. Dowell is the Library Media Specialist at Sunrise McMillan Elementary. She began her career as an educator after graduating from Prairie View A & M University in 1982.  Later in 2006, she graduated from Texas Women’s University with a  Library of Science Master's Degree. In 2019, Dr. Dowell earned an Ed. D degree from Walden University in Adult Education and Higher Learning. 

Dr. Dowell has always had a love for learning and a curiosity about the wonders of the world. 

Ms. Christine Dixon - Counselor

 

I am beginning my 10th year in education, and my 5th year as a school counselor. I am from Omaha, Ne and have been residing in Texas since 2010. I choose to work as a school counselor to equip children with strategies to empower themselves.

Mrs. Yesenia Ayala Salgado- School Secretary

My name is Yesenia Salgado. I am from California moved to Texas in 2014. I have been married for 19 years and have 3 amazing kids. I have been working at Sunrise McMillan Elementary for 3 years.

I'm from Fort Worth, Texas. I like movies and I like to help children.

 

 Mrs. Loretha Ruffin is a Louisiana   native. She is married to her high   school sweetheart. They share two   children and 4 grandchildren. A   graduate of Grambling State   University, she holds an Associate   Degree in Child Development.   Upon   joining FWISD Mrs. Ruffin   devoted herself to teaching   children with special needs. She   has invested 7 plus years with the   district and also, currently serves   as a REALTOR in the Dallas/Ft.   Worth areas. She enjoys interior   design, cooking and candle-making.

It is a pleasure to collaborate and support our Sunrise Jaguars. I earned my B.A. from Philander Smith University (Previously known as Philander Smith College) and M.A. from Webster University. I have been a Texan for 17 years by way of Arkansas. I love spending time with family & friends. In my free time I like to raise money for non-profit organizations. I have worked for FWISD for 16 years as an educator. I decided to work in education because I have a deep interest to encourage students to have a joy for learning.

 Hi! I am so excited to be partnering with   Sunrise McMillan Elementary for the 2024-   2025 school year. I received my masters   degree in Social Work from the University   of  Texas at Arlington in 2022 and this will   be my third school year with CIS! I enjoy   nothing more than being with students and   to help brighten their day. I love to bake,   read, and take walks                                                                 with my dog!
